Pressure Washing

When was the last time you gave your home or building a good washing? Your property is susceptible to the elements 24/7, facing exposure to windswept debris, vegetation and chemicals. Over time, this can cause unsightly stains and can deteriorate the exterior of your home. With a simple pressure wash, your home can receive necessary preventative maintenance that will cut down the cost of some common but major modifications or repairs in the future.

Pressure washing your home not only freshens up its aesthetic and curb appeal, but also preserves its integrity by blasting away any unnecessary and damaging vegetation or chemicals that have accrued over time. If left unchecked, these chemicals can produce mold and will eventually rot important areas such as window/door frames, rooftops, and driveways – generating costly repairs.

At Garabar, our pressure washing services are quick, easy, and inexpensive. We use a hot water pressure washing system with water reclamation and filtration, which collects debris, rather than blast it back onto your property. Our machines then filter the debris and chemicals from the water and recycle it to cut down on excessive water consumption. Further we only use chemical free water, to minimize damage to your property and the environment.

If you think your home could use our pressure washing services, give us a call and schedule a free consultation. We’re happy to offer our services and provide valuable insight on how to extend the life of your home.

Development Assistance for Your Next Remodel

Recently, our team stumbled onto a few exciting roofing opportunities for home and business owners in various parts of South Florida:  Incentivized remodeling and/or development assistance.  These are programs where the city or state provides assistance (tax credit, money, etc.) to home or business owners who make adjustments to improve their properties.  All too often, we have seen individuals who want or need their property upgraded but think they can’t afford to do so – completely unaware of any incentive that is being offered.

Whether you choose to hire us or not is your decision – we’re just excited that it makes some people’s lives a little easier as they may now be able to afford some of the products and services that were previously out of reach.  A roof is the perfect example of “out of sight, out of mind.”  We often forget that this part of our home or building is constantly exposed to brutal elements, especially in the South Florida area.  Adding a preventative maintenance program to your roof replacement plan is something that will help prevent minor damage from becoming severe – in the end it may prolong the overall life of the roof and save money.

To find out if your area is offering incentives on property remodeling, search for Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRA) in your area.  Here are a few that we found that are currently offering incentives:

West Palm Beach – http://www.wpbcra.org/incentives/
Northwood – http://www.northwoodvillage.org/aboutIncentives.php
Delray – http://www.delraycra.org/index.php

Quality Service Still Wins

Recently, we’ve used many fun & new methods to promote our business. You may have seen us on Facebook, received our e-Newsletter or even seen a Google ad during the last rainfall. While we have seen these methods work for us, we have found that what truly works best is to out-serve our competition.

Here in South Florida, the market for roofing and general construction is saturated with companies ranging from the very small to the very large. With little effort, any diligent property owner can search for and find a residential or commercial roofer that can provide for their specific needs. Understanding this, we have decided that we will stand out from the rest by offering more. One of the ways we aim to do this is by simply taking care of the client’s property as if it were our own. For example, rather than leaving a static dumpster, we use a disposal truck and drive it out every day, so as not to impede the property’s aesthetics. We remove all debris and collect nails and other fallen debris through a thorough cleaning process so that the property looks even better than when we arrived.

We love it when a client tells us how pleased they are with our work and with the way their property looks. And we are filled with pride when that client uses our services again or refers us to friend. From the beginning to the end, our job is all about serving people. With this in mind, it only seems logical to serve more in order to be the best.

Green on Your Roof, Green in Your Pocket

It seems like more and more companies are practicing “green” methods these days, and the roofing/construction sector is no exception.  There are several products that can be installed onto a roofing system to make a house self sufficient in terms of energy consumption and use.  And in West Palm Beach, the city may be willing to help pay for them!

Typically, these green roofs add an additional cost to rooftops, which tends to raise a red flag in a homeowner’s mind.  But while the initial cost may be higher, trends have shown that these roofs have a longer life expectancy, require less maintenance, and may even lower your utility bills!  And now, thanks to the City of West Palm Beach Green Task Force, there is a Roof Weatherization Program available that will actually pay for some of the cost for approved applicants. You can get a stronger, energy efficient roof that actually lessens the carbon footprint of the community, and the city wants to help pay for it.

As part of our dedication to educating our customers, we hope this opportunity is something you will consider.  Your roof needs attention whether you take advantage of this program or not.  Preventative maintenance is a must for every rooftop.  Wouldn’t you rather pick the one that will last longer, save you money, AND help the environment?

May Roofing Update

Rainfall was significantly below average this May, however traffic picked up at our showroom and we’re seeing a significant increase in calls. People seems to be worried about this year’s hurricane season and news from the NOAA is predicting a highly active season.

Mid April Roofing Update

One day of significant rain has pushed this month’s rainfall over the monthly average. That rainfall has reminded many homeowners that extended periods of time without proper maintenance have made their roof more susceptible to water intrusions and while we are not getting the volume of calls we would normally expect for re-roofs (since homeowners are generally spending less on home repair this year), homeowners in need of repairs have been calling several times daily. As we approach the beginning of rainy/hurricane season, we expect to see demand for roof repairs increase commensurately with the increase in rain.

Our recommendation is to get your roof evaluated before the rains and defend against as yet unknown water intrusions. Now would also be a good time to sign up for a roofing maintenance plan.

March Overview

March was a very wet month with rainfall almost tripling historical averages. As such, roofing volume picked up significantly. There seems to be less hesitancy from the general public to maintaining their home, but they also realize that as the summer rains approach, a sealed roof is of utmost importance.  We see a steady increase in business as we approach hurricane season. At that point all bets are off.

Mid-February Roofing Trends Florida

We’re half way through February and overall industry activity and business seems to be picking up. More people are interested in re-roofing, although margins are still being squeezed, making lean operations all the more necessary. A couple significant rainstorms have exposed the problems with existing and neglected roofing systems and homeowners are beginning to see that they cannot wait until the summer rains or worse a tropical storm or hurricane to get this fixed.

With a diverse business model Garabar has been able to garner work from various industries and weather the industry downturn but the industry isn’t out of the woods yet. Companies have to redouble their efforts to keep costs low and quality high in order to be competitive in the years to come.

Product Spotlight: James Hardie

Even though this post isn’t necessarily about roofing, it falls under the same principle. As general contractors in Florida we are privileged to have the designation of preferred contractor by siding manufacturer James Hardie.

James Hardie’s siding products are truly excellent products because they blend the beauty and durability of siding with an added bonus – increased resistance to wind and fire. JH’s fiber cement siding is a true trend in the home improvement industry as we move towards more sustainable, durable products.
